TROLLMUSIC promotes AINULINDALË's "Nevrast" album & the "Skogtatt" novella by Ulrike Serowy (May 5th, 2014)

Trollmusic from now on promotes carefully selected underground artists which are not on the label but whose approach is highly appreciated. Thus we promote the "Nevrast" album by Ainulindalë and the haunting "Skogtatt" novella by German author Ulrike Serowy.
Both releases have obvious connections to the Trollmusic history.
Ainulindalë's debut album "The Lay Of Leithian" was the first Trollmusic album release in 2004. And "Skogtatt" reflects the mysticism, melancholy and misanthropy of early Nordic black metal with remarkable empathy, in a harsh and stinted diction. There have been many attempts to capture the ambivalent essence of nature-inspired black metal in literature, but none has come that close as "Skogtatt".

If you want to know more about the
"Nevrast" album or the "Skogtatt" novella, please visit the promotion page where you can download promo sheets. For further info just get in touch.

ALVENRAD "Habitat" out now - hailed for its liveliness, surprising many with its wild mixture (April 4th, 2014)

The album can still be ordered as bundle version right here and is now available in shops of your choice in the EU.

„‘Habitat is already timeless and compensates everybody who missed dancing & banging since the demise of Otyg and Skyclad.” (Andreas Schiffmann,
„It is fresh and original and a must for everybody searching for new impulses in (folk) metal.“ (Mischa, Dutch Distortion)
“Alvenrad released with ‘Habitat’ a mighty fine record. Ideal for headbanging!” (Nick,
“This is not your typical prankster folk metal fair, these guys are sincere in what they’re are singing about. This authenticity is exactly what sets them apart from many of their peers." (Raymond Westland, ThisIsNotAScene)
„Across the board, the gentlemen score bonus points with the lyrics, which are above average original and can be called almost poetic.” (Justin Erkens, Aardschok)

ALVENRAD and Trollmusic renew contract – working together for four albums (April 2nd, 2014)

After a year of intense cooperation and short before the release of the already heavily discussed “Habitat” debut album, ALVENRAD just signed a renewed deal with Trollmusic.
After critical reflection it feels just perfectly right to continue with full strength", says label founder Thor Joakimsson, "since the work with ALVENRAD has proven to be inspiring and enriching for both parties in many ways. Everybody in the Trollmusic camp believes we can bring this band to another level and we're damn convinced of the positive power of their music and their artistic approach."
On behalf of the band,
Jasper Strik and Mark Kwint comment: "It's great to be recognized for our artistry in such an early stage. Not many bands have signed a multi-album contract before the release of their debut album. It gives us a lot of confidence to follow the path we set for ourselves and continue to let Alvenrad rise to it's full strength."

ALVENRAD's "Woudakoestiek" video clip online (February 18th, 2014)

The first video clip for ALVENRAD's debut album "Habitat" is published now.
"Woudakoestiek" is the album opener and combines many qualities and influences of the Dutchmen's music, transporting a great dose of enthusiasm for nature, old school heavy metal as well as folk-inspired black metal. The material for the clip was spontaneously shot in a few hours in the woods of the Veluwe, the habitat of ALVENRAD. Besides Mark Kwint and Jasper Strik who form the core of the band, it features Arjan Hoekstra (The Good Hand, Mirna's Fling) on session bass and Koen de Graaf (ex-Thronar) on vokills.
In the next weeks before the release (April 4th in Europe, April 15th in the US) a good handful of studio & interview clips will be published to support the release of "Habitat". Those clips will not only allow insights into the lively recording process but also into the band's manifold inspirational sources.

10/10 points for MIRNA'S FLING demo recordings & free download of "Misery" (January 17th, 2014)

With no other intention than giving some music lovers a first insight into the stirringly melancholic tunes of MIRNA'S FLING, the (sort of) demo recordings had been sent to some writers a few days ago. Thus the surprise was big to find those recordings rewarded with an enthusiastic review and 10 out of 10 points by the German Hörspiegel magazine, written by its chief editor Nico Steckelberg. Here is what he wrote:

"I'm absolutely flashed! While listening to this music I think of so many different bands and composers... I remember Nick Cave, Coldplay, Gus Black, Cat Stevens, Klimt 1918, Adam Green, Paul Roland, No-Man, Muse, Landberk or John Alexander Ericsson. And I think of their stunning moments in music. (…) [Mirna's Fling's] music is so fresh and free from urges, streaming directly from from the heart and moving me in plain language. Be it the bright singer-songwriter pieces, the hypnotic melancholic maelstroms or the groovy piano ballads... everything falls into place. (…) I hope this demo will be available for purchase very soon!”

We don't know whether that will happen since the recordings of "For The Love Of Me" turn out really well and highly atmospheric, but for all those who want to take a closer listen right now, we offer a free download of the demo version of "Misery". If you enjoy the song, please be kind and spread the word about it!

MIRNA'S FLING signs with Trollmusic – playful music with great depth guaranteed (December 21st, 2013)

It is with much happiness that we can announce the Dutch band Mirna’s Fling having signed a three-album-deal with Trollmusic.
Mirna’s Fling is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Arjan Hoekstra (The Good Hand, Alvenrad [session]). It combines various influences from singer/songwriter music, original beat pop/rock, early gothic & indie rock in playful compositions with a strong sense of artistic freedom.
“The music of Mirna’s Fling needn’t be reduced on any categories”, says Trollmusic spokesman Thor Joakimsson. “I got various recordings of Mirna’s Fling when Arjan helped Alvenrad on some issues, and a month later I recognized that I had been listening to those songs almost every day – they obviously echoed deep inside me beyond words. So it feels just natural to sign this fantastic band which will hopefully surprise and inspire music lovers with its open-hearted approach!”
Arjan Hoekstra comments that he is thrilled to have found a label welcoming the variety of music styles that he covers with Mirna’s Fling: “It’s hard to be taken serious these days if you do not exactly ‘fit in’. I don’t seem to have any control on what I write, it just comes naturally. Often my music feels to me like my own private therapy: it’s a way of expressing feelings and staying realistic. Thus I hope my songs can attract people and maybe have a small positive influence. So far I don’t have any answers, but I do hope to ask the right questions.” (more)
